VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!

I bought 2 bags of the Fresh Step Crystals ,which is more expensive than other litters,thinking I would only have to change once a month. After 1 1/2 weeks our covered litter box has a very strong ammonia odor!! When my cat pees it turns green and if I spread the litter out it is very wet underneath. This certainly doesn't last as long as stated!!! VERY DISAPPOINTED!!

Do not recommend

I bought this 2 1/2 months ago and I’m very disappointed. This litter gave my cat asthma the only difference during those 2 1/2 months was I switched from pretty litter to fresh crystals to see if it worked just as good as pretty litter. Well, it didn’t because it gave my cat asthma so I have to switch back to pretty litter. I do not recommend this litter unless you want your cat to develop asthma..

potent silica dust, not good for solids

when you stir this litter, a cloud of silica dust comes out that sticks inside rooms. it is very bad for anything to keep breathing that dust in. the scent control is horrible. this litter does not handle solids well at all. the only thing good about this litter is the small amount of weight usage over time and that urine is not needed to be scooped out as with clumping litter.

Don't bother :(

I have been using this for 3 years and all of a sudden something is different about the bags. The urine is not being absorbed it is sitting there soaking wet and never drying. My cat then urinated on the floor. We used this happily for 3 years and are unsure why this is occurring? We are considering switching litters now.

Rancid Step

I have been using Fresh Step for many years. It was always a superior product. I have two cats and each cat has her own litter box (territorial) so I've been a loyal customer of this brand and spent plenty of money on it over the years. Recently I couldn't find it in stores, and read that the factory was shut down due to a cyber attack. I don't know what happened during the shutdown, but since production started again this seems like an entirely different product. The litter no longer absorbs anything so when the cats urinate, it causes the litter to turn to slush! It smells horrible! The bottom of the box gets wet within a couple of days and I have to dump it out, clean the box and refill. I used to only change it about once a month. Also, it's condescending to tell customers "keep 4 inches of litter in the box" etc. I've been taking care of pet cats my entire life and this hideousness never happened until Rancid Step changed their formula. Plus the price keeps going up! I've been forced to change brands and I will never go back. Shame on you for ruining a good product.

I just tried it and there is no dust, but still smells, why do you not sell bigger bags, I have 4 cats and 1 little 8# bag does Not cut it

Complete garbage

Complete garbage. Urine just sits a mess on the bottom and pretty much ruins your litter box. We’ve got 3 cats. We scooped it daily. But obviously it doesn’t clump and that’s a huge issue. Just don’t buy it unless you want to swap litter daily. Cats decided the carpet was better. And the smell of urine on the bottom of all the litter (crystals don’t absorb anything) just sits there and burns your eyeballs. Stinks up your whole house when you do move the top layers around. Just terrible stuff. Oh and it’s super LOUD. Sounds like they’re building a railroad in there.

Light weight, cats love it

I have to give 1 star for the crystals, because I was forced to adopt a 3rd cat. Well with 3 fix male cats and 3 litter boxes, the crystals simply can’t keep up! I started cleaning the litter everyday to stay on top of the smell of urine, that didn’t work. I use a fan directly blowing on the litter box to hopefully dry out the pee and no luck there either. I am so bummed because I just want my house to smell welcoming and clean. But I can’t combat the smell
