Zhongtong Delivers 18m BRT Electric Buses to Portugal

On April 25th, 2024, we were delighted to deliver 35 units of 18-meter BRT pure electric buses to our esteemed Portuguese customer. This marks a new and exciting milestone in the international journey of Chinese buses! These Zhongtong BRT electric buses are the first 18-meter pure electric BRT buses in Portugal, which will serve the historic city of Coimbra, providing a crucial link between the city center and the suburbs.
This is part of Coimbra's new high-capacity electrified rapid transit system，implemented over the past decade and covering the entire city. The system is characterized by extensive coverage，long mileage, and it will play a key role in improving regional travel convenience. The project is significant not only for Portugal but for Europe as a whole, with Zhongtong pure electric BRT buses being a driving force behind its success.
It is noteworthy that this is not the first time that Zhongtong has entered the Portuguese market. In2021, the inaugural batch of Zhongtong pure electric buses was deployed in Porto, receiving unanimous praise from operators and locals alike. Subsequently, from 2022, Zhongtong N8 and V7 pure electric buses were introduced to Portuguese, becoming integral elements of the local green and smart transportation infrastructure.
Zhongtong is currently the largest supplier of new energy buses in Portugal, with a market share exceeding 50%. Zhongtong's pure electric buses are in operation in 11 major Portuguese cities, including Porto, Lisbon, Faro, Coimbra, and Setúbal.
Zhongtong has implemented adaptive reinforcement to the vehicle structure in accordance with EU regulations and Porto's actual transportation conditions. This not only enhances the convenience of vehicle operation and maintenance but also reduces subsequent usage costs, representing a significant financial benefit. As a result, this initiative has become a distinctive symbol of Porto.
Led by Zhongtong, Chinese bus manufacturers are focusing on new energy solutions and extensive experience in overseas promotion to expand the European market and make significant contributions to the green transition and progress of local road transportation.
Zhongtong new energy buses have not only gained a mark in the Portuguese market, but also we have entered Germany, Bulgaria, Austria and other European countries. From Asia, Africa, Latin America to Europe, Zhongtong international journey continues to expand.
